Fun fact about me: I saw the Foo Fighters in concert in 2008 or 2009 and had no idea who they were. I was fresh out of my homeschool bubble and my boyfriend insisted I go with his two best friends since he was sick that day. It was definitely an adventure and now I love them.
Hence, my interest was piqued when the band’s frontman, Dave Grohl put out a memoir, it went straight to my TBR. It was also a book my boyfriend was interested in as well, but since he’s not an avid reader, we did the audiobook together. That in and of itself was a great experience to work on a project or relax on the couch together and listen to Dave read to us.
The Storyteller is a collection of essays about Grohl’s journey from small town life to some of the biggest stages with Nirvana and The Foo Fighters. Let me tell ya, the man has some dang good stories. This book is such a wild ride, including a play-by-play of that time he broke his ankle and returned to the stage to finish the concert, or the time Joan Jett read his daughter a bedtime story. Freakin’ nuts!
My boyfriend and I both highly enjoyed the stories. We laughed out loud and exchanged open-mouthed looks of shock. Grohl reads the audiobook and that just adds a wonderful level to the experience. It really is like listening to a friend tell the crazy things that happened to them over the last few years. Those crazy stories just so happen to involve a lot of A-list celebrities, like Paul McCartney and Kurt Cobain. Ya know, normal stuff.
If you love music, especially the Foo Fighters and/or Nirvana, this book is for you.
