I was first introduced to Jordan Lee Dooley when my book club opted for her first book, Own Your Everyday shortly after it was published in 2019. I listened to the entire audiobook while working at the bookstore… twice… in two days. It just hit right. Since then, I’ve listened to her podcast, SHE, pretty regularly.
So, when I saw Jordan had a new book on the way, you bet your britches I pre-ordered a copy of Embrace Your Almost. That pre-order also got me a spot on her launch team, so we got access to a digital copy ahead of time.
Embrace Your Almost explores what to do and how to handle things when life doesn’t go exactly how you think it will. Jordan includes those moments she’s experienced firsthand, from both her business and her personal life, and shares how she’s pushed through those disappointments.
I knew a good chunk of the story, since Jordan is pretty open on her podcast about what she’s been through recently. In Embrace Your Almost, she goes into more detail on her two back-to-back miscarriages and how it affected her. It’s incredibly vulnerable but something so many women need to read so they know they aren’t alone. Even if that kind of loss isn’t part of your own story, there’s still plenty to glean from these pages if you’re paying attention.
“Life isn’t a game to win. It’s a garden to tend.”
– Jordan Lee Dooley, Embrace Your Almost
