Review: “Forget Me Not” by Julie Soto

Have you ever intended to read for a set amount of time, let’s say one hour, and then found yourself suddenly at the end of the book and it’s been more than four hours? That was me with Forget Me Not by Julie Soto. I read it so hard, I forgot I had cooked until the next morning when I found my leftovers still on the stove (the sadness!!).

Forget Me Not [Buy Bookshop Amazon LibroFM] is a dual POV story about Ama and Elliot. Ama is a wedding planner who usually does small gigs so she doesn’t step on her former boss’ toes. Elliot is the florist she used to hook up with during some weddings, but things went sideways when he wanted more since she doesn’t really believe love lasts. (That’s thanks to her mom who has had more than a dozen weddings and counting.) Ama and Elliot have managed to stay out of each other’s way for a couple years, but that all ends when Ama lands an influencer’s massive wedding and the one thing the couple insists on is using Elliot as their florist.

If you love tropes, this has all of them. Grumpy x Sunshine? Check. Enemies to lovers? Check. Second Chance? Check. Forced proximity? Check? Workplace? Check. Wedding? Check. Small-ish town? Check. Tall guy with dark hair and tattoos? Check. Nerdy references because the author started in fan fiction? Also check. It has something for everyone!

I don’t know what it was about this book that sucked me in, but daggum did it ever. I usually put tabs in books for quotes I like and questions if there’s potential for an interview, and that maybe lasted for about 100 pages before I was lost to the book entirely. It’s just pure magic and a good time.

I will say that Elliot’s point of view is pretty essential to everything. He tells the past while Ama tells the present, where he doesn’t talk much. Without his insight, he’d come off as pretty terrible, so kudos to Julie for making sure we had a reason to love him anyways.

I just love it so much, y’all.
