Christina Lauren’s “True Love Experiment”

It’s no secret that I’m a big Christina Lauren fan. The first book I took a photo of when I started this book reviewer/bookstagram journey was The Soulmate Equation [Buy Bookshop Amazon], so when I met them last year at San Diego Comic Con and they confirmed that Fizzy was getting her own story, I was JAZZED.

Now, The True Love Experiment is finally here, and y’all, it is SO GOOD.

The True Love Experiment [Buy Bookshop Amazon] finds Fizzy in a bit of a funky spot when it comes to romance, thanks to a commencement speech she gives. She’s just not feeling the love, both in her real life and on the page. She happens to run into Connor, a documentary maker tasked with creating a dating show since that’s where the money is.

Connor is not happy about the concept since he has some ideas about what people who enjoy dating shows are like, but he doesn’t want to lose his job and end up separated from his daughter. So, he pitches making Fizzy the star of the show because Fizzy is freaking awesome. Fizzy’s response is delightful and I’m not going to spoil that for you. Just know, Fizzy is a legend and I love her.

Of course, since she’s the star of the show and dating a group of other men on camera, this builds so much tension with Connor in the best way. The ending is freaking perfect and I just love this book so freaking much. I read it so fast and I wish I could read it again for the first time.

I totally agree with Ali Hazelwood’s review of this book, which is hilarious and will probably become a sign at my store because that’s just how I roll. The True Love Experiment is steamy and funny and delightful. I’d totally watch a real dating show with the concept in this book. It just makes me so happy, which is really the whole point of this book. This is a love letter to fangirls and nerd life and joy and I could gush about it forever. It also got me thinking more about how people treat romance authors and readers of anything different than their own tastes, and people who are just all in for loving life, which I appreciate having that extra level of depth.

Do yourself a favor and read this duology, stat.
