Book Review: Tessa Bailey’s “My Killer Vacation”

If you haven’t figured out that I’m a Tessa Bailey stan by now, I really don’t know what to tell you. She writes, I read it and tell you about it. That’s how this works. I don’t make the rules.

Well, I guess I do. Mwuahahahahahahaha.

Tessa is a writing MACHINE, and is self publishing yet another steamy novel. (If you aren’t keeping track, this is release number three in like 6-7 months. May we all reach such levels of boss-ness.) My Killer Vacation is a bit different from Tessa’s previous books because this one has a murder mystery along with the romance! It’s like it was made just for me and I’m here for it.

For you trope trackers, My Killer Vacation is a grumpy/sunshine romance. Taylor and her brother are off to Cape Cod for a hard-earned vacation, but find a dead body in their rental home. The police think they know what went down, but Taylor and the property owner’s sister don’t quite buy it… so the sister hires Myles the bounty hunter to investigate. But Taylor is tired of being the good girl who stays safe/boring and mayyyy have stolen some evidence to force Myles to allow her to help with the investigation. It doesn’t hurt that they are both highly attracted to the other.

I devoured My Killer Vacation in one sitting, because screw adulting. The steamy scenes are on par for the Tessa Bailey Gold Standard. My only complaint about this novel is that I figured out the whodunnit portion way too early. Yes, I know that’s beside the point but it still bothers me when I crack the case in the first half, okay. We all have our preferences and I prefer to be guessing into the final third. But again, the romance part is *chef’s kiss* so grab yourself a copy and cancel all your plans.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
