Tessa Bailey Catches Us “Hook, Line, & Sinker”

A little over two years ago, I picked up a Tessa Bailey ARC, and now here I am, a romance reader and big fan of Bailey’s. Hook, Line, and Sinker is the sixth book of hers I’ve read and it’s one of my favorites. Just order a copy now and do yourself a favor.

Hook, Line, and Sinker is the follow-up to It Happened One Summer (my review here). TL:DR, that one is a Schitt’s Creek-inspired romance, but if Alexis was dropped in a fishing town. I loved Piper and Brendan’s story, but this one is a whole different level.

Piper’s sister Hannah has been back in Los Angeles since the summer, and texting Fox consistently throughout those seven-ish months. Now, Hannah is preparing to work on a movie and craving more responsibility. When the director she’s crushed on for two years decides he wants a different setting for his film, Hannah suggests Westport. Why not hang out with her sister, right? But when the guest room is already taken, Hannah ends up crashing with Fox. Bonus! (But alas, this does not involve the one bed trope.)

Meanwhile, Fox is totally smitten with Hannah and has been since they met, but he’s got his own set of issues to work through. One of them being that Brendan told him, in no uncertain terms, to keep his philandering hands off his fiancée’s sister. Fox’s bigger issue is how he sees himself after years of being told he’s like his father.

Hook, Line, and Sinker is a delightfully steamy story and I could not stop reading it. It was a perfect companion during one of the many winter storms we’ve had in the Midwest this month. Tessa is wonderful at building spicy tension and creating realistic characters you can root for. It’s unreal how good she is at this.

And fun fact: I got to chat with Tessa about romance novels and society for my day job. She said she’s heard from readers who say these books have made men holding fish in their dating app profile pictures attractive again. That’s some high praise that I can’t really argue against.

Do yourself a favor. Grab Hook, Line, and Sinker and carve out a few hours to enjoy this spicy romp.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Bonus fun fact: her next series is set in Napa Valley… but that’s all the tea I got out of her.

  1. […] is self publishing yet another steamy novel. (If you aren’t keeping track, this is release number three in like 6-7 months. May we all reach such levels of boss-ness.) My Killer Vacation is a bit […]
