Chilling Summer: Kristin Miller’s Peek Inside “The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives”

I know I can’t be the only one who occasionally finishes an intense book and just sits there for a few minutes to process whatever just unfolded on the page. The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller is one of those books for me. It is BONKERS.

It starts out with a chapter from Georgia, who is hospitalized and in a coma following some kind of accident. She can hear people talking, but can’t respond. All you really know is that someone is dead and she’s under suspicion due to her past. Georgia is nicknamed “the black widow” after not one but two husbands died shortly after marrying her. Both deaths happen inside her home, where she still lives.

The book then cuts to six days prior to the unknown accident as Brooke and her wealthy husband prepare to move in next door to Georgia in a fancy pants gated neighborhood. Brooke quickly meets the HOA president, Erin, and gets caught up on the rumors about Georgia. Brooke is curious and befriends both women. Aside from the first chapter and one toward the end, we see the story through Brooke and Erin’s eyes.

Things get crazy for the three women when Georgia’s new fiancé disappears from his yacht during their pre-wedding celebration’s after party. They each have some secrets that taint their perspective, and the men in their life aren’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

That’s about all I can say without spoiling the second half of the book, which is INSANE. I tried to explain the main plot points to my boyfriend, and it was overwhelming for both of us. There is so much that happens and it ties together in wild ways, and I’m not sure I fully grasped it all. I’m still processing it.

Just trust me when I say, it’s dramatic and entertaining.

I am giving The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives four stars, mainly because it’s so insane it becomes hard to believe. However, it’s still juicy and incredibly difficult to put down.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
