Michael W. Smith Shares “The Way Of The Father”

I grew up listening to Michael W. Smith’s music, so grabbing a copy of his book was a no brainer. The Way Of The Father is a memoir focused on his father Paul and how Paul’s life reflected how the Heavenly Father cares for his children.

It’s a sweet collection of stories from Paul and Michael’s lives. It reads like a friend telling you a story about their dad and you don’t mind the bunny trails making it long because it’s fascinating, entertaining, and happy. You can tell how much Michael loved his dad and felt loved by him. Plus, you get the bonus of stories about celebrities he’s met along his musical journey, like Bono, Charlie Daniels, and two former presidents.

You can also tell how much Michael’s faith means to him. I’m not sure he goes more than two or three pages in a row without quoting scripture or referencing something from the Bible. But, that is kinda the point… showing the ways a human father’s relationship with their child is the same as what’s available with God as our father.

The Way Of The Father is a fast read. I mean, I read the entire thing in one sitting. The stories will make you smile and warm your heart. If you’re looking for a good Father’s Day gift, this would be a good one.
