Book Review: “Serial Killer Games” by Kate Posey

September is a fun time of year where, at least in the Midwest, it’s still hot but spooky season is almost here. If you’re a seasonal reader, that makes things a little complicated. But I’m here to save you with a fun and sharp mystery romance.

Serial Killer Games [Buy Bookshop Amazon LibroFM] is a dual POV of two coworkers with a morbid curiosity about someone pushing people off office rooftops. Delores is a true crime podcast listener and has been dying to find a serial killer in real life. When the new temp, Jake Ripper, shows up, she can just tell something is off with him… but also, she’s drawn to him and determined to figure out what is going on. Meanwhile, Jake is also convinced there’s something twisted about Delores, and he really likes it. His curiosity leads to hope that he found someone who truly sees him.

Serial Killer Games was so witty and fun. I don’t want to get into some of my favorite sharp moments because I don’t want to spoil it for you. Whenever you think you know what’s going on, there’s a fun twist on the meanings and details. It kinda goes off expectations toward the end, and I haven’t decided if I like it more or less for that bit.

I listened to this on audio thanks to Penguin Random House Audio and it was a good time. I enjoyed the narrators delivery, which fit so well with the personalities of the characters. It wasn’t over the top and hit just right for me.

Serial Killer Games is everything I wanted Love in the Time of Serial Killers to be and more.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
