I snagged an early copy of A Killer Getaway by Sienna Sharpe at C2E2 2025 and the blurb immediately intrigued me. I love a good mystery, but I also love a good romance, and obviously, I love a female main character causing some chaos, so this book felt right up my alley.
A Killer Getaway [Buy Bookshop Amazon LibroFM] is about a woman named Lily who takes a summer job as a lifeguard at a resort every summer. She owns a successful catering company in Ohio, so no one really understands why she does it. But she definitely has her reasons.
Mainly, her reason is murder.
Lily first visited this fancy, expensive health resort with her girlfriend, but something happened back then and now Lily is getting revenge. She has a meticulous process to identify the worst person at the resort and kill them in ways that don’t lead back to her.
But this time, a very attractive journalist is at the resort and asking too many questions… questions that could implicate she knows more about the deaths than she’s letting on.
This was such a fun read. I went into it expecting murder with romance vibes and it delivered on both fronts. I loved the blend of murderer’s POV, suspense, and steamy scenes. What I wasn’t expecting was depth, and it delievered there as well. The way Sharpe dives into grief and the things we will do when we’re hurting.
Perfect book for the beach or the time between summer and spooky season.
