Tessa Bailey’s dalliance into sports romance is now in it’s third installment as the Big Shots series rolls forward. This time, Tessa is dipping into some new-for-her tropes, which added some intrigue beyond what we already knew about our main characters going in.
In The Au Pair Affair [Buy Bookshop Amazon LibroFM], we met Sig and Chloe, and knew they had some kind of a weird non-relationship going on. Now, in Dream Girl Drama [Buy Bookshop Amazon LibroFM], we’re getting their origin story. This book starts with Sig on his way to his dad’s house to meet his dad’s new fiance, but his truck has other ideas. His truck breaks down in front of a country club and his phone battery is dead, but lucky him, a blonde beauty is there to help. They hit it off and plan to meet up later. Unfortunately, when Sig walks in to meet his father’s future wife, Chloe is there playing the harp… in her mother’s house.
They are about to be step-siblings.
Things go a little bit sideways during that initial dinner, and Sig ends up heading back to Boston with Chloe in tow and a plan to help her get on her own two feet. However, the chemistry between them has a way of trying to throw their good behavior off track.
This book is chocked full of yearning, so if that’s your vibe, this book is for you. It is a hockey romance, but there isn’t a whole lot of hockey in it. It’s more hockey team politics behind the scenes than actual game play. I don’t usually read step-siblings stories, so I was a little nervous going into it, but overall, I trust Tessa. The resolution to that storyline felt a little cheap, but I didn’t hate it. I just wanted more from their emotional connection after the insta-love.
I thoroughly enjoyed the set up for the fourth book in this series, Pitcher Perfect [Buy Bookshop Amazon] and can’t wait to get my hands on it.
