The comic con that first made me fall in love with cons is bringing a lineup full of fun and nostalgia into their 2025 event. Planet Comicon will be held March 21-23, 2025 at Bartle Hall in Downtown Kansas City. Tickets are still available for all three days.
This year’s VIP celebrity guest is David Tennent from Doctor Who, Jessica Jones, Harry Potter, and Good Omens. VIP packages and photo ops with Tennent sold out fast, but the convention has hinted that there might be more added. Tennant will only be attending Friday and Saturday.
Several other Marvel actors will be making an apperance at Planet Comicon as well. After canceling several convention appearances last year due to filming schedule changes, Vincent D’Onofrio from the upcoming Marvel show Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to attend. Mike Coulter, aka Luke Cage, and the man behind MCU’s Red Skull Ross Marquand are also on the guest list.
SCREAM stars Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich will be back in Kansas City for a second year in a row. Many attendees voiced frustration with the long lines in 2024 keeping them from meeting the pair, so they are returning to say hello to fans who may have missed out.
There’s plenty of nostalgia to go around the 2025 show. Saved By The Bell’s Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, Beverly Hills 90210‘s Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling, and Christopher Lloyd are all on this year’s slate. PCKC also features what they call “Nostalgia Alley” which is a special booth near celebrity row. This year, voice actors for Princess Peach, Bowser, Donald Duck, Dora the Explorer, and Barney will be meeting fans in Nostalgia Alley.
Other celebrities on this year’s schedule include Andy Serkis, Richard Speight Jr., Jim Beaver, AJ McLean, Steven John Ward, Tom Daly, Tom Payne, and the voices of Rick & Morty. I wouldn’t be surprised if they add at least one more celebrity before convention time rolls around.
For now, the full panel schedule remains a mystery, but it should become available soon. There will be a cosplay contest Saturday night, with Ming Chen announced as the host.
PCKC includes the Planet Entertainment Zone, which is bustling with entertainment options. Previous years’ offerings have included an arcade, video games from vendors, R2D2 robots running around, lightsaber training, photo ops, cosplay displays, and community organizations. It’s a great place to hangout if you’re taking children to the con. You’ll find it on the end of the show floor opposite celebrity row.
A fun side event from the last two years is returning… sort of. In 2024, it was called the Planet Fae Ball, but the social media account has gone through a rebranding and is now listed as Fae Ball Events. It’s scheduled for the Saturday after Planet Comicon further highlighting the separation, but I’m including it here since still appeals to some of the same crowd.
This event is a way for readers to dance the night away in ball gowns and crowns, while hanging out with authors. New this year is a book market during the day for book signings and an author Q&A, followed by the ball in the evening of March 29th. Hannah Nicole Maehrer, author of Assistant to the Villain is scheduled to appear. Tickets are on sale now.
Subscribe for updates as they become available.
