Welp. We have a strong contender for favorite book of 2024 with Emily Henry’s latest release, Funny Story. I heard the theory that you’re either an evens or odds fan when it comes to Emily’s books and this solidified that pattern as fact for me.

I listened to Funny Story on audiobook through LibroFM early as an influencer adn flew through it. This book [Buy Bookshop Amazon] follows Daphne as she is *going through it*. Her fiance Peter came home from his bachelor party extremely late only to tell her it was over and he was now in a relationship with his female best friend, and out of the kindness of his heart, he was taking that girl to Italy for a week so Daphne could move out. Daphne’s best option for a place to live on such short notice is taking the place of Peter’s new girl at the apartment she shared with her now-ex boyfriend, Miles.

At least she still has her dream job as children’s librarian.

But when the invitation to Peter and Petra’s wedding shows up, Daphne and Miles decide to accept… and pretend to be together. Why not make your exes a little uncomfortable, right?

This book is so much fun. Fake dating your ex’s ex is my new favorite trope combination. I had no idea I needed these shenanigans in my life, but I did. Funny Story was actually funny and is packed with so much heart… and hot forearms. Gotta emphasize the forearms. 😉 The audiobook narration was also great, so check it out if you want something fun to listen to.
