Book Review: “Kiss the Girl” by Zoraida Córdova

Disney is bringing some of our childhood favorites from the animation realm into the contemporary romance world, and I am here for it. Each book in the “Meant To Be” series features a different Disney princess written by a different author. While I have the first two, book three is the first one I got around to reading, and spoiler alert, it did not disappoint.

Kiss The Girl [Buy Bookshop Amazon] is Zoraida Córdova‘s controbution to the series, and it is a modern take on Ariel, with a Latinx twist. Ariel Del Mar is one of the biggest pop acts in the world… right along with her sisters. They are part of a girl group wearing colorful wigs and sequins to give those iconic mermaid vibes. But when Ariel’s father backs out on his promise to let them step away from the spotlight for a while to explore what they wish, she runs away with Eric Reyes. He’s an up and coming indie music star who doesn’t know who she is, so she becomes their merch girl on tour.

This is chock full of Little Mermaid references and fun. We still have the themes of belonging and finding your voice like the original, but in a different way. I don’t really have much to say about it other than it’s cute and fun, which I think is exactly what we want from this kind of story.

You do not need to read the first two books in this series in order to read Kiss The Girl.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
